All Erin Grand needs to do is sing a few notes, and you’ll know you’re witnessing something special. Someone sharing their God-given talent with whomever will lend an ear.
While the smooth soulfulness of her voice may hint at Southern roots, she was born and raised in Lakeville, Minnesota. She started singing at her Church which led to a stint in a Christian rock band, and then formed a duo with her friend Madison. They played weddings, bars, and place that would have them.
During that time, Grand was also working on her songwriting — one song at a time. She’d slide some in every now and then during her sets. Eventually her songs started earning her invites to writers rounds around the Twin Cities area that were put on by organizations such as the Midwest Country Music Organization.
A founding member of the Midwest CMO, a pivotal moment came during the first Midwest CMO — SongTown Songwriter Forum. She was chosen as the grand prize winner by Nashville mentors Marty Dodson, Clay Mills, and Jason Duke.
They wanted to fly her down Nashville, help her develop her craft as a songwriter, and find her voice as an artist. That one trip turned into monthly visits to Music City to write with people such as Lance Carpenter and Ryland Fisher.
Before that, however, she reached another milestone. She took home Female Vocalist of the Year at the inaugural Midwest Country Music Organization Awards in February of 2019. It turned out to be a year of writers rounds, songwriter contests, and regular trips to Nashville for writing and development.
Later in 2019 she received an invitation to join Nashville’s Song Suffragettes, a collective of female songwriters focused on helping female artists be heard in the music industry. It was shortly after that she decided it was time to make Music City her home, and she moved after being crowned the Midwest CMO Female Vocalist of the Year for a second year in a row.
Since living in Nashville she’s been writing with some of Nashville's top writers and doing shows with some of Country Music’s best. Grand is hard at work finding her voice as she enters her early twenties, and discovering who she is as a young woman.
So, who is she? She’s unapologetically pop-country. She’s got a heart of gold matched by the soul she puts into every note. Grab a seat and get ready, because her music is about to move you in ways you never thought possible.
